Good morning, DMV. Yesterday we talked about turning one review into a week of content. Today, the uncomfortable follow-up question: how many reviews did you ask for last week? For most owners the honest answer is zero, and that is the single biggest reason great businesses have thin review profiles.

💡 The big idea: you’re not asking, and that’s the whole problem

Your customers aren’t withholding reviews out of spite. They’re just busy, and you never asked. The vast majority of happy customers will leave a review when directly asked, and almost none will do it unprompted. The gap between a five-review profile and a fifty-review profile is not the quality of your work. It’s whether asking is part of your process. Today’s full script pack fixes that: The Review-Request Script Pack.

📝 The two rules behind every good ask

  • Timing beats wording. Ask when the customer is happiest: within an hour or two of finishing the job, not three days later when the glow is gone.
  • Kill the friction. Never say “leave us a Google review.” Send a direct review link that opens straight to the star box. One tap instead of a scavenger hunt.

✍️ Steal this text (your workhorse script)

Hi [First Name], it’s [Your Name] with [Business]. Great getting that [job] done for you today! If you have 30 seconds, a quick Google review would mean the world to a small local business like ours: [review link]. Thank you!

Text gets read in minutes; email sits for days. Send the text first, every time.

⚡ 10-minute quick win

Grab your Google review link from your Business Profile right now. Paste it into that script. Send it to the last three customers you finished work for this week. That’s it: three potential five-star reviews on your profile by Friday, from fifteen minutes of effort. To make it automatic going forward, set up a one-question “How did we do?” form with something like Typeform and text it after every job.

🚫 The mistake to avoid

Asking once and quitting. People mean to and forget. One gentle nudge three days later (“no worries if you’ve been busy, here’s the link again”) recovers a big share of the reviews you’d otherwise lose. Two nudges is nagging; one is just good follow-up.

🔧 Make it run without you

If you’re in the trades, your job software can fire the review text automatically when you close out a job: tools like Housecall Pro turn every completed job into a review request with zero remembering on your part.
